My Dads Greenhouse, A Chair Makeover, and a Winner!

Hello!

Happy Monday!

And Happy 2nd day of Fall!

I know most of you are all so excited for fall; cold weather, pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, and boots. I however, Love summer and am sad to see it go.  Don’t get me wrong, Fall is beautiful, I’m just a summer girl.

Anyway,  So first up, it’s time to announce the winner of my giveaway for the Rachel Ashwell Couture Prairie and Flea Market Treasures book.

Thank you all who entered.

And The Winner is….

Samantha from The NestUK

Congratulations Samantha, I know you will enjoy this book as much as I do.

Second today, I wanted to share my dad’s Summer project with you all.

My dad built this little green house, and has nicknamed it Quillabamba, after a luscious, colorful, Amazon jungle in Peru.

Because it represents a beautiful memory of peace and plenty where time just stands still.  And the hope of a bountiful harvest.

My dad loves working in it and when he turns up “missing” and can’t be found, everyone just says, “He is probably in Quillabamba!”

My dad is a retired contractor and is always up to something. He re-designed the roof from the original version as to get the best sun light as possible.

I thought it turned out so neat. As you can see, he has a large garden surrounding it, along with pretty colorful blooms.

I told him to expect Better Homes and Gardens to come a knock’n.

I think it belongs in their magazine.

And Third today, I thought I’d share a little chair makeover I did.

Our home office is fully made over, but before I post the final reveal, I thought I’d share a few things I did in the room first.

I had this cute, old, chippy, green chair in the room,  I liked it, but it just didn’t seem to flow with the rest of the room.

So I spray painted it white.

This here is my favorite spray paint of all.

however, I first painted it with the satin paint because I liked the color best (blossom white)

But the finish was too flat.  My boy’s wouldn’t sit on it because it was too scratchy.

So I sprayed it a second time with the Gloss.

I didn’t distress it at all, I thought I’d let it wear on it’s own.  Although, I’m excited to see some of the old green come through.

The white chair now fits into the room much nicer.

Ok, so stay tuned for more changes in our home office.  I’m really excited to share it with you.

Thanks for stopping by,

Emily

I'm just totally jealous of that greenhouse! I would love to have one to save my beautiful ferns and other plants. It's fun seeing someone paint with spraypaint. It works every time!

I'm so excited to win the Rachel Ashwell Couture Prairie and Flea Market Treasures book. Thanks so much Emily – I can't wait to get it. Looking forward to seeing your home office reveal too – I need as much inspiration as I can get as our study is just our home's dumping ground!!
