Chalkboard Wall in Boy’s Room

Hello!

Happy Friday!

Ever since we moved into our new home, I’ve promised my boy’s a Chalkboard Wall in their room.

So now with School Out for Summer, what better time to give them one?

They can keep themselves busy all Summer long with their artwork, plus I figure we could play “Mommy School”  and I can have them practice their writing and give them math problems to solve.

I think we are going to be having lots of fun with this wall!

Their room had the perfect large wall for a chalkboard.  Since our home was built in 1924 the walls are all plaster, so it gave us a pretty smooth surface to work with.

Although, I did have to patch a lot of holes before hand.

I used this can of chalkboard paint, found at Lowe’s.

It’s a small can but I was able to get two good coats out of it.

I left a tad bit of paint in the can, just in case I needed to do any touch-ups.

So after each coat of paint, you have to wait 24 hours to re-coat, and then another 24 hours before you can write on it.

So after 3 days of anticipating,  I woke up to this First Thing in the morning.

 It made me Smile!

My Boy’s Love it!

Now I’m off to finish up the room.  More on it to come.

Thanks for stopping by,

Emily

Oh this is awesome! Yes, two very happy boys in your house this a.m. Making me smile especially since I raised two boys, too. They are now in their 30's (sniff) and would have loved a chalkboard wall. Fun, fun!!

You know you have boys when your chalkboard wall says "die sucker"! lol! As the mom of two boys myself I loved that! I love that you showed us the real wall and didn't make it all perfect! It looks great and you can tell the boys will have lots of fun with it!
