Dresser Makeover With DIY Leather Handles

I did a little furniture swap in our office/sunroom by switching out the antique dresser that was in here before for this one that use to be upstairs in our bedroom.

Moving furniture up and down stairs isn’t always the funnest but switching around furniture sure is an easy way to change up the look of a room, plus it doesn’t cost any money…and you can get in a good workout all at the same time 🙂

I like using a long dresser in our sunroom because it works great as a place to put house plants and then it doubles as extra storage space. Our sunroom gets a lot of sunlight and so my plants do really well in here next to the windows.

I also have my Bell Water fountain on the dresser now, which I never dared put on the antique dresser because I was always afraid that the water might damage the dresser somehow.

My bell water fountain use to be on a small stand and now I like having it mixed in with my plants.

I talk about this bell water fountain quite a lot because it’s one on my most favorite things ever!

I’ve had it for years now and it still works perfectly. This fountain has little chimes that float around and make soft chime sounds that we hear throughout our home all day long.

You can get one for yourselfHERE*. It is a little pricey, but I think that it’s worth it.

So after moving the dresser into our office/sunroom I decided that it could use a little makeover and so I made new leather handles for it.  I’ve seen these leather handles done before and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to try.

All I did was cut up an old leather belt into six equal size pieces. And then I drilled holes where I wanted the screws to go in. A bolt on the inside holds it all into place.

And then for the middle drawers, I just gave the knobs a fresh coat of a green/brown color of spray paint and I think that they look great next to the leather handles.

Before the knobs were painted blue and the previous handles were broken and out of date. Here is a pictures of what the dresser looked like before when it was up in our bedroom. Don’t you agree that the new leather handles make it look so much better now?

And Here is a picture of what the dresser looked liked even before that. It’s a bit of a blurry picture, but you get the idea.

I’m also thinking of maybe adding some feet to the dresser to rise it up off the floor. But I’ll save that for another day.

So if you have an old belt laying around, maybe there is something that you could add some leather handles to too.  Maybe? I sure do love the look of mine.

Thanks for stopping by today.

I’m so happy you are here.

🙂
