My Fresh New Blue Kitchen Reveal

Yesterday I shared the story behind choosing a new color for our kitchen, and today, as promised, I’m back to share more pictures of the room with you.

So just a quick update in case you missed any of the post leading up to this one.

I painted the wood range hood mount white – Post Here

I also painted the tile backsplash white – Post Here

And then I painted the walls from Benjamin Moore/Horizon Gray to Benjamin Moore/Aegean Teal – Post Here

And actually, Here’s a before before, this is how the Kitchen looked when we first moved in:

What a difference a couple cans of paint can make, right?

I have a ton of pictures to share so I’m going to try to keep the chit chat down a bit, and welcome you to  take a look around.  If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in a comment below.

I had originally planned to replace my wicker (food cover) lamp shades with something else, but in the end I really felt like they belonged in the room.  Plus, you all know I have a thing for wicker 🙂

When I shared a picture of my kitchen on Instagram, I got quite a few comments about my bamboo stools.  They were actually a yard sale find that I made over and shared inthis Post.

Speaking of Instagram, a few friends and I are hosting a #HomeYouHave challenge.  The challenge is to restyle a spot in your home using ONLY items you already own. The point of it is to inspire you to fall in love with your homes without feeling pressured to buy anything new to achieve that feeling.

This week’s Challenge is Kitchens, so if you want to play along you can by sharing your kitchen using the hashtag #homeyouhave. Be sure you are following me on Instagram for more details. Every Monday we announce a new challenge, and every Sunday we pick a favorite to share on ALL of our feeds.

It’s really fun, you should play along.

With that said, I just want you to know that I re-decorated our kitchen without buying anything New.  Even the paint was leftovers from another project.

I did say I was going to keep the chit chat down, right? ha ha! I meant from now on.

The personalized photo magnets from Tiny Prints are still a favorite of mine. See moreHere.

I know it’s a bit hard to tell, but I removed the curtains I had before and opted for vinyl blinds that I had custom cut at Lowes.  These blinds actually made a big difference in the room. Not only do they give us the privacy we were needing, but by removing the curtains the window just looks so much bigger and clean lined now. We are really liking the new blinds.

Oops, I guess I did buy something new for the room, The blinds, and a pineapple 🙂

So that is my Fresh New Blue kitchen!

I hope you enjoyed the tour.

Thanks for stopping by,

Emily

I love it, Emily! The white was pretty before but with the blue your kitchen has so much more personality. Glad you kept your lights.

I love your color choices Emily! When I chose our stone countertop and tile flooring (similar to yours) that shade of blue was one of the top contenders for wall color, and I saved my inspiration photos just in case I want to change up the color in the future. The blue pairs nicely with your white cabinets and wicker accent pieces. Very pretty!

That beautiful wall color makes the white cabinets pop! I had never noticed your wicker lights over the breakfast bar before but now they stand out and add great texture to the room! You did a wonderful job!!!

Just saw this post…I know from quite awhile ago that you were struggling with whether to paint the stove surround or not (because the wood was very pretty)but for the cohesiveness of the room, you made the right choice….the room looks lovely…Well Done!!!

How would this color work in a mid to smaller sized bathroom with light tan tile floor, cherry trim and white shelving accents? I don't have a lot of natural light but do have a large mirror and large frosted shower door which takes up a lot of the wall space so not a lot of room for wall color and decor.

Love the color you used,,,,love the whole room,,,so light and fresh. I wonder how it would look with the chains and top of the lamps painted white. They would look like they were floating.

Definetely need bead board under the counter in front the the barstools. Like the color in these pix better than the original. It's much lighter than I thought. Looks good! I think colored glass fixtures over the bar would look richer.
