Christmas Nights Tour

I have a little routine I do everyday at dusk.

I go around the house and turn on all of our Christmas lights.

I love how warm and cozy the twinkling lights makes our home feel.

In fact, when Christmas is over, I think taking down the lights is the hardest part.  It’s always hard to say goodbye to the magical ambiance that they bring. I wish I could leave our Christmas lights up all year long without anyone thinking I was nuts.

The holidays just seem to go by so fast, so you really have to take joy in every second of it. I think the lights have a special way of bringing you peace and allowing you to be present in the moment.

Christmas lights are wondrous!

Today I want to invite you into our home in the evening.

Welcome!

I was so excited when Rachel fromMaison de Pax invited me to take part in a Christmas Nights Tour. And I was even more excited to get to see how her and the other participating blogger’s homes look like at night. I have seen pictures of them all in the daytime already, but to get to see them at night, almost seems a little more intimate and personal.

We don’t go over the top with exterior lights, but my boys and I did have fun putting out a few around our front porch. We’ve been lucky to get a few snow storms our way, which makes our home feel even more festive.

It’s cold outside, so hurry in!

Unless you want to stay outside and play in the snow with my boys. I couldn’t get them to come in.

The lights on our Christmas tree keep going out, so every year I just strand on a few more.  There are so many layers of lights and broken lights on this thing it’s not even funny, but at night, when it’s all lit up, you can’t even tell.

In the evenings, we love to sit on the couch and stare at the tree.

Under the tree is a red crate full of Christmas books. There is nothing better than snuggling with my boys at night, reading stories together.

Our office is another great room to chillax in.

In here, I like to light a bunch of candles. We also listen to a lot of Christmas music in this room.

Some of the candles are actually flame-less.  My mother-in-law ordered them for me off of HSN. The candles are really neat because they have a remote and you can change the color of them and even put them on a timer.  My boys think they are the coolest thing in the world and they are always moving them around the house and changing their colors.  It makes me smile.

The dining room also has a few candles I like to light.

I placed candles in large glass jars and then added in fake snow, little white trees and white deer ornaments.  I think they look so pretty lit up at night.

Night baking anyone?

In the kitchen, I have created a little baking station. My boys and I made some gingerbread cookies to leave out for Santa because apparently they’re his favorite.

And lastly, lets head upstairs to our attic bedroom.

I don’t believe there is anything better than flannel sheets on snowy nights.

And that concludes my night tour.
